What is a CVC code?

The Card Validation Code  is a three-digit security code printed on the back of your credit card in the signature strip of Visa and MasterCard cards. It appears at the top right corner of the signature panel as shown in the example below.

The back panel of most credit cards contains the full 16-digit account number, followed by the CVC code. Some cards, however, only show the last four digits of the account number followed by the code. This change makes it easier for cardholders to sign their cards and for merchants to compare signatures.

The CVC code helps validate your purchase as legitimate. The CVC code as well as address and postal pode verification is used to determine whether to accept charges. This increases our commitment to protect our consumers from fraud and reduces our exposure to fraud.
