If
it's so easy to save 70% by taking divided Proscar tablets rather than purchasing
Propecia, why doesn't everyone do it? Only Propecia has been approved for Male Pattern Baldness, even though Propecia is only 1/5 of a Proscar tablet. Is this legal? Importation of prescription medications for personal use is allowed in many countries, provided the medication is for personal use and is not a controlled substance. How are the tablets divided, and into how many pieces? According to the clinical trials which led to FDA approval, an amount as little as 0.5mg/day of Finasteride is sufficient to effect the drug's anti-MPB properties. Larger amounts -although for the most part harmless- do not do any additional good. Accordingly, 1/10 of a Proscar tablet would be sufficient, however it is virtually impossible to accurately divide a small tablet into 10 similarly sized pieces. Pills.com recommends that users divide the tablet into 5 pieces, some of which will invariably be a little more than 1mg, some a little less. Given that 0.5mg is sufficient, there is no need to worry that one of the divided pill fragments may be a little under 1 mg. One box of Proscar therefore yields 5 months of daily Finasteride, which is the same as taking Propecia. Tablets are most easily divided with a pill cutter.
